Michael van Gerwen cruised into the quarter-finals of the BetVictor World Matchplay in Blackpool after a 13-3 victory over Peter Wright.
The Premier League champion averaged 105.58 during the course of the comfortable win, missing the seventh treble on two separate nine-dart attempts.
The first five legs went with throw before van Gerwen made his move to go 4-2 up and dominated the contest from that point on.
Wright actually hit more 180s than his opponent but was comfortably outscored otherwise and managed just one more success, taking out 96 in the 10th leg.
"I played a very good game, but I still missed quite a few doubles," van Gerwen told Sky Sports.
"My scoring power in the beginning of the legs was absolutely amazing but after that I had some bad shots. I twice had the chance for a nine-darter but for some reason I didn't hit a treble."
In other second-round action at the Winter Gardens, Adrian Lewis was similarly untroubled as he breezed to a 13-5 win against Brendan Dolan.
Dolan took out 96 to win the opening leg of the contest, but he would not hit another double until the end of the 12th leg, by which time Lewis was 10-2 ahead.
The double world champion had hit a 10-darter in the previous leg but it was Dolan who provided the fireworks in the closing stages, nailing a 108 finish on the bull and a maximum 170 checkout before Lewis finally wrapped up the win.
Lewis will face fellow Stoker thrower Andy Hamilton in the last eight after the former world championship finalist claimed a 13-7 victory against Ian White.
White, who shocked Robert Thornton in the opening round, was just one break of throw behind at 7-5 before Hamilton opened up a comfortable gap and sealed the win in the 20th leg.
The last game of the night saw Dave Chisnall overcome Jamie Caven 13-10 after a closely-fought encounter.
