Co-hosts end preparations with convincing victory
Co-hosts Austria rolled to a 5-1 victory over Malta in their final friendly before Euro 2008.
Rene Aufhauser opened the scoring as he headed in an eighth minute Andreas Ivanschitz corner and three minutes later Erwin Hoffer set up Roland Linz for a 2-0 advantage.
Malta pulled one back four minutes before the break as Coventry striker Michael Mifsud netted.
But Linz, Ivica Vastic and Martin Harnik then added second-half goals to set up Austria for only their second victory in 16 matches.
It was the first time that Austria have scored more than four goals since a 5-0 victory over Belarus in June 2003.
The co-hosts begin their Group B Euro campaign against Croatia on 8th June before going on to meet Poland and Germany.
