Bradford take the spoils in top of the table encounter
Bradford's promotion bandwagon continues to roll after winger Steve Jones's first-half strike secured a hard-fought 1-0 win over rivals Wycombe.
Wanderers' debutant Jon-Paul Pittman was left cursing his luck after a header was cleared off the line and a strong penalty appeal was waved away.
The 22-year-old striker also saw an overhead kick fly wide as Wycombe pressed, but they were hit by a sucker punch when Peter Thorne set up Jones to fire City in front just two minutes before the break.
An incident-packed contest almost boiled over 12 minutes from time when Wycombe forward Chris Zebroski was shown a straight red card for his high-footed challenge on City defender Matt Clarke.
Bradford could have wrapped up the win with late chances for Joe Colbeck, Nicky Law and Paul Arnison but a third win on the bounce was enough for the delighted home fans.
