Jeffers stars in Robins win

A lively contribution from Shaun Jeffers brought Cheltenham a narrow 2-1 win against previously unbeaten Burton Albion.

After Burton led for much of the match through Shaun Harrad's 36th-minute angled drive, the arrival of on-loan Coventry youngster Jeffers 20 minutes from time transformed the home side's display. His pace and power instantly troubled the Brewers' defence, but it was a pair of precise crosses that changed the direction of the match. His first effort found the Robins' leading scorer Wes Thomas totally unmarked six yards out, who took his tally to five for the season with a powerful downward header. A minute later, Jeffers' cross found the late-arriving Josh Low, who looped a match-clinching header beyond Adam Legzdins into the far corner. In a tight first half, with few clear-cut chances, Harrad put Burton ahead with a fierce 15 yard drive shot that went under Scott Brown's body. Cheltenham skipper Michael Pook came closest to equalising with a curling free kick, before the late headed double.
