      Chesterfield suffer Droylsden upset

Droylsden defender Sean Newton bagged a double as the Bloods booked a shock place in the FA Cup third round at the fourth time of asking by beating 10-man Chesterfield 2-1. Bad weather and floodlight failure twice forced the controversial second round fixture to be abandoned but Newton ensured it was all said and done at the Butcher's Arms with goals either side of the half to finally settle the replay. Striker Jack Lester pulled the visitors level before seeing red for an elbow as the Spireites failed to find the killer touch against Droylsden who now face Ipswich next month. Chesterfield will have reason to be aggrieved after the lights cut out in their last encounter but could only blame poor defending for Newton's opener. The 20-year-old danced his way past three defenders and fired home from 25 yards in the 31st minute only for Lester to equalise moments later. Bloods keeper Craig Mawson had a moment to forget, clearing straight onto Lester before watching the ball trickle over the line. Mike Byron denied Lester a second on the line after the break before Newton netted the winner from the spot after Danny Hall hauled down Matthew Tipton. Tempers threatened to boil when Lester was given a straight red for elbowing Colin Cryan in the 84th minute but Droylsden weathered the storm to ensure safe passage to the third round.
