Excelsior remain in trouble following 3-1 home defeat
NAC Breda beat Excelsior 3-1 away from home to pick up a third straight victory and climb into the top half of the table.
The home team competed well at the start but could not make it to half-time on level terms as Matthew Amoah broke the deadlock six minutes before the interval.
Robbert Schilder then doubled NAC's advantage on 75 minutes, although their two-goal cushion did not last long before Tim Vincken pulled one back for Excelsior.
Excelsior's hopes of salvaging a draw were finally extinguished in the 90th minute when Ali Boussaboun struck NAC's third.
The result lifts NAC to seventh in the Eredivisie, while Excelsior remain third from bottom and in deep trouble.
