Hereford progress after shoot-out drama

Hereford goalkeeper Adam Bartlett saved three penalties in a 3-2 shoot-out victory at Leyton Orient to progress to the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Southern Section semi-finals. Orient had the better of the opening stages but posed only token threats from a James Scowcroft header that went wide and an Andros Townsend shot that was deflected for a corner. Hereford went ahead when Mark Marshall laid back the ball for Leon Constantine to fire into the bottom corner in the 26th minute. Bartlett had to save from Scowcroft and Sean Thornton's free-kick and Hereford were rarely out of their own half during the second 45 minutes. And in added time a shot from home midfielder Jason Demetriou was deflected past Bartlett to bring about the penalty shoot-out. But Bartlett had the final say, saving spot-kicks from Thornton, Charlie Daniels and Luke Summerfield to seal Hereford's glory.
