Martin out for Hatters; Downes set to miss out for visitors

Luton Town face a tough task when they tackle Chesterfield on Easter Monday. The Hatters will be without top goalscorer Chris Martin for their Easter clash against. Striker Martin collected his 10th booking of the season during the Johnstone's Paint Trophy final victory over Scunthorpe and will now miss the next two games. The trophy will be paraded around Kenilworth Road prior to kick-off and boss Mick Harford will be hoping some of their cup final success will rub off on his side as they go in search of three much-needed points. Harford admitted after Saturday's goalless draw at Lincoln that his side may have to win all of their remaining five games to avoid the drop, and he will be hoping defender Lewis Emmanuel and striker Kevin Gallen will be available for the encounter, although it looks unlikely. Emmanuel was stretchered off in the 20th minute of Saturday's clash at Sincil Bank with a knee injury while Gallen picked up a hamstring strain. Otherwise, however, Harford has a fully-fit squad. Skipper Kevin Nicholls continues to be available as he awaits the result of his appeal on a five-match ban. C

Chesterfield are expected to be without defensive lynchpin Aaron Downes for their trip to Kenilworth Road. A knee injury cut short the centre-back's 150th league start against Darlington on Saturday as the Australian was forced off after only 25 minutes of the goalless draw. Downes could be missing for a couple of weeks with the problem. Manager Lee Richardson does have options to fill the void with Kevin Austin or Dan Gray, who replaced Downes against the Quakers, in the frame for a recall. Richardson lamented his player's fatigue after the draw against Darlington which moved the Spireites into the play-off places for the first time this season. Ben Algar, Scott Boden and Lloyd Kerry offer options for Richardson to freshen up his starting line-up. However, Drew Talbot, on loan from Luton, is ineligible against his parent club.
