Milton Keynes Dons consolidated second place in League One with a 2-0 win over Southend.

O'Hanlon and Baldock strike in 2-0 win

Milton Keynes Dons consolidated second place in League One courtesy of goals from Sean O'Hanlon and Sam Baldock in a 2-0 win over Southend. O'Hanlon scored with an early header while Baldock netted his first goal for two months with a superb free-kick. It means Dons' superb form extends to four straight victories while Southend continue to stutter in mid-table. Dons got off to the perfect start when O'Hanlon's glancing header from Peter Leven's corner beat everyone and hit the back of the net. But Dons took their foot of the pedal and Southend's Alex Revell should have scored, heading Junior Stanislas' corner onto a post. Revell then controlled a long ball well but with the goal at his mercy he screwed wide from just eight yards. Dons started the second half quickly and caught out their visitors with a 30-yard free-kick from Baldock which beat Steve Mildenhall at the near post. Southend could have reduced the deficit late on when Willy Gueret spilled Stanislas' free-kick and Lee Barnard hit the rebound straight at the keeper.
