Coventry boss hails win; Holloway left aghast

Chris Coleman has spoken of his delight at claiming victory in his first game in charge of Coventry City. Goals from Elliott Ward Leon Best were enough for The Sky Blues as they secured a 2-0 victory over Leicester City. And Coleman has hailed the display, while outlining his ambition to help his new side move up from 18th in the table. "It was the first game and we got three points. It was the first home game and a win in a derby game so I am delighted," he said. "It was gutsy performance. They attempted to do what I asked. The work ethic is fantastic, and they are better on the ball than they think they are. "What pleased me most was how quickly the players adapted to what I asked in such a short space of time. "I believe we have the players here to move away from the bottom end of the table."

Hughes news

The encounter was overshadowed by a worrying injury for Stephen Hughes; however Coleman believes the Coventry captain will be 'okay'. He said: "Hughes is okay. He has concussion after a whack in the face. It was worrying when he was on the floor and not moving. "Hopefully he will be okay. It is also nothing to do with the cheekbone he fractured earlier in the season." Leicester manager Ian Holloway was left furious after he felt referee Keith Stroud was wrong to award Coventry a penalty when Gareth McAuley was adjudged to have fouled Best.
Maddest
"I felt the game was ruined by one of the maddest decisions I have ever seen," he said. "I have seen their centre-forward go through. I have seen my centre-half nudged and fouled, and then I have seen the referee make a decision that no-one in the ground could understand. "I thought he was blowing for a foul for us and then one of my staff said he had given a penalty. I couldn't believe it. "If anyone can understand what he has given the penalty for I would love to hear from them. "The striker didn't even appeal - have you ever seen that? It is absolutely embarrassing."
