Schalke have suspended Gustavo Varela and Carlos Grossmuller for 'disciplinary reasons'.
The Uruguayan duo will now miss Thursday's Uefa Cup clash against French outfit Paris Saint-Germain.
The pair have been demoted to the reserves until further notice after a decision was taken on Tuesday by manager Andreas Muller and coach Fred Rutten.
"For disciplinary reasons we came to his conclusion, but we will not go public over exactly what happened," said Muller.
Midfielder Grossmuller has only featured in two Bundesliga fixtures for Schalke this season, while Varela is yet to be considered for first-team action.
