Huh narrows provisional line-up to 26 players

South Korea have cut their provisional squad for the World Cup in South Africa this summer down to 26 players. Coach Huh Jong-moo originally named a 30-man provisional squad, but axed four players from the line-up on Monday, a day after the team beat Ecuador 2-0 in an international friendly in Seoul. The four players to be cut are defenders Kang Min-soo, Hwang Jae-won and Cho Won-hee and midfielder Kim Chi-woo, who all play in South Korea's domestic competition, the K-League. The only dismissed player to feature in the Taegeuk Warriors' win on Sunday was Hwang, who was brought on as a substitute for captain and Manchester United star Park Ji-sung in the 46th minute. Defensive midfielder Cho is currently signed with Wigan Athletic, but was loaned out to K-League side Suwon Bluewings earlier this year after a handful of appearances for the Premier League club.

Warm-up

South Korea will take on arch-rivals Japan in a friendly next Monday before leaving for their pre-World Cup training camp in Austria. Huh is due to submit the final 23-man squad for the tournament to Fifa on 1st June. There are a few injury concerns for the coach after midfielder Kim Jae-sung limped off against the South Americans. He should be fully recovered next week but striker Lee Dong-gook could be out of action for two to three weeks after suffering a thigh injury. South Korea will take on Argentina, Greece and Nigeria in Group B of the tournament. Revised preliminary South Korea World Cup squad:
