If Denmark perform like they did against Cameroon, then the last 16 is a real possibility for Lee Norton's men.
Danes serve up the best game of the World Cup so far
As I sat down to watch the Denmark v Cameroon game on Saturday night, I have to say that I wasn't expecting much.
In the opening games neither team offered anything up front and I was almost certain we'd see another dismal, boring game just like we'd been treated to the night before with England.
How wrong was I?
Having seen the majority of matches so far in this World Cup. I think this game was without doubt the best of the tournament so far. Credit has to go to Cameroon as well as Denmark for making the game so enjoyable to watch.
It was end-to-end and played at such a fast pace. It may not have been brilliant football - we didn't see the slick, flowing, passing game of Argentina or Spain - but what we did get was a game of mistakes, missed chances, a couple of well-worked goals and some cracking saves.
Having made sure I'd been to the toilet before the game started (the curse isn't getting me again), the Danes didn't start too well. Cameroon began much the better team and deservedly took the lead after a terrible mistake from Christian Poulsen, and it looked bleak for Denmark.
Pace
However, the Scandinavians responded really well and a great ball over the top let in the ageing Dennis Rommedahl (who still has bags of pace), who then found Nicklas Bendtner in the middle of the goal to slot home.
It was then end-to-end, Denmark had a decent chance blocked right in front of goal, then Samuel Eto'o was up the other end minutes later to hit the post. Another great ball to Rommedahl down the right saw the Danes take the lead, this time the veteran decided to go alone and superbly curled the ball into the bottom corner.
Both teams missed chances late on and Thomas Sorensen made a superb save from Emana in the closing minutes to ensure that Denmark took the three points.
It was a thoroughly enjoyable game and a very decent display from the Danish. It's just a case of cutting out the silly mistakes that have led them to conceding two very sloppy goals so far in this tournament.
So on to Thursday's crunch game with Japan. It's a shame that Holland couldn't put a couple more past the Japanese as it now means a draw will be good enough for Japan to go through to the last 16.
Denmark need to win, but if we perform like we did against Cameroon, I don't think that will be a problem.
