Genoa defender has arrived in Rome for medical ahead of move

Lazio have confirmed that Genoa defender Abdoulay Konko is set to undergo a medical in Rome today. The Biancoceleste have agreed to pay their Serie A rivals a reported €5million (£4.5m) to secure Konko's services. The French right-back is set to sign a four-year contract with Lazio and is a direct replacement for Juventus-bound Stephan Lichtsteiner. Konko, 27, started his professional career with Juve but was loaned out to Crotone before joining Siena in 2006. He then spent the 2007/08 season with Genoa, earning a move to Spain with Sevilla before returning to Genoa last January. Konko will become Lazio's third summer signing following the arrival of German striker Miroslav Klose and Bosnian defender Senad Lulic. Coach Edoardo Reja led Lazio to a fifth-placed finish in Serie A last term to qualify for next season's Europa League.
