Uchebo waiting on work permit for 'dream' switch to England

VVV Venlo striker Michael Uchebo is hopeful he can obtain a work permit in order to complete a move to Stoke. The powerful Nigerian forward is on trial at the Britannia Stadium with a view to completing a permanent transfer to the Premier League side. Uchebo's contract expires at the end of the season, meaning the Potters would only have to pay a cut-price fee in the region of £1million for his services in the January transfer window. The 21-year-old, who has already been labelled the 'African Peter Crouch' given his tall stature, is confident any work permit issues can be resolved so he can soon become a team-mate of the England striker. "My game and my physique are set for English football," Uchebo told Sky Sports. "Tony Pulis loves strong athletes but quality ones as well. "Guys like Peter Crouch, [Ricardo] Fuller have decent technique, hopefully the deal can go through and I will get my work permit and play my football on the bigger stage. "VVV Venlo is a good starting point in the Eredivisie but the Premier League is a top league and a dream league for anyone who plays football."
