Midfielder set for permanent deal with Savoyards

Denmark midfielder Thomas Kahlenberg is set to join Ligue 1 newcomers Evian on a permanent deal at the end of the season. The 28-year-old joined the French outfit on a six-month loan from Bundesliga side Wolfsburg in January. And now sporting director Pascal Dupraz revealed that the player has convinced the club that he is willing to join the Savoyards on a long-term deal. "Our president, our coach and I had a meeting where we discussed players for the upcoming season," Dupraz told Tipsbladet. "And we don't have any doubts. We want to keep Thomas because he is a great player. "We will now discuss everything with Wolfsburg and of course with the player himself." Meanwhile, Kahlenberg, who has just one more year left on his current deal at the Volkswagen Arena, is keen to leave Germany and he told TV2 Sporten: "It's positive that the club is pleased and want to consider an extended agreement." Evian lie comfortably in mid-table in the standings with 36 points from 28 games.
