Aaron Mokoena has joined the exodus from Portsmouth after reaching an agreement to cancel his contract.

Pompey say the 31-year-old South Africa defender, who had a year left to run on his contract, has signed a compromise agreement over money outstanding and is poised to return to his homeland to join Bidvest Wits. Midfielder Hayden Mullins earlier agreed a switch to Birmingham as the cash-strapped club continue to slash their wage bill. Pompey administrator Trevor Birch said: "We're very pleased to have reached an agreement with Aaron over his departure from Fratton Park. "We appreciate his efforts in making this happen, thank him for his service to the club and wish him every success in South Africa." The club still need to sell more players with midfielder David Norris and striker Luke Varney likely to be next out of the door. Norris has been linked with Sheffield Wednesday and Varney is expected to join Leeds.
