Lincoln chairman Bob Dorrian insists relegation will not cost manager Steve Tilson his job.
Tilson was drafted in by the Imps back in October and was charged with the task of steering the club to League Two safety, following a slow start under Chris Sutton.
He was unable to bring about a reversal in fortune, though, and Lincoln slowly slipped deeper into trouble.
They won just four of their last 25 games and tumbled out of the Football League on the final day of the season.
Negotiating a swift return from the Blue Square Premier will be no easy task, with the non-league ranks as competitive as they have ever been.
Stability
Dorrian appreciates as much, but is confident that Lincoln will be back in the not too distant future.
He hopes Tilson will be the man to return them to the fourth tier, with the former Southend boss assured that his position his safe.
Dorrian said: "Most definitely. Steve will be here next season. The club needs stability.
"We can bounce back but the Blue Square Bet Premier is a graveyard for League clubs and it might take us two or three years."
