AC Milan defeated Lecce to extend their lead at the top of Serie A to four points as Juventus drew with Genoa.
Juve, who also drew their game in hand against Bologna in midweek, could only manage a goalless stalemate at the Luigi Ferraris stadium, despite dominating possession and racking up 17 attempts on goal.
Meanwhile,
Milan continue to go about their business as league leaders, registering their 17th win of the season with an assured 2-0 victory at the San Siro, as Antonio Nocerino and Zlatan Ibrahimovic provided the goals either side of half-time.
Elsewhere,
Fiorentina's miserable away form continued as they slumped to a 1-0 defeat at
Catania, with Francesco Lodi's penalty settling the contest. The Viola have won only once on the road this season.

Thomas Manfredini opened the scoring for Atalanta, who remain in the bottom half, while former Liverpool defender Gabriel Paletta levelled for Parma after the break.

Novara, who shocked high-flying
Udinese with a 1-0 home success.
Brazilian striker Jeda scored the winning goal in the 16th minute as Novara picked up their first win in three months to move three points ahead of Cesena at the foot of the table.
Finally,
Lazio missed a chance to close the gap on second-placed Juventus by falling 3-1 at home to in-form
Bologna.
The home side were not helped by red cards to Francesco Matuzalem and Alvaro Gonzalez either side of the interval, and Bologna took full advantage to move up to ninth in the table.
