Dortmund beaten as Leverkusen win and Bayern held

Borussia Dortmund suffered a shock defeat as Bayer Leverkusen kept the Bundesliga title race alive and Bayern Munich missed the chance to reclaim third spot in the table. Kaiserslautern, Stuttgart and Werder Bremen all picked up three points to edge nearer to securing their top-flight status for another season. Leaders Borussia Dortmund are stumbling towards the title after going down to a 1-0 defeat away to bottom club Borussia Monchengladbach. Mohammadou Idrissou scored the only goal after 36 minutes to give Gladbach hope of survival and leave Dortmund just five points clear of Leverkusen with three games to play. Arturo Vidal scored a second-half winner as Leverkusen came from a goal down to beat Hoffenheim 2-1 at home. Former Reading midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson gave Hoffenheim a 28th minute lead, but Michel Kadlec levelled five minutes before half-time and Vidal notched the winner on 51 minutes. Bayern trail third-placed Hannover by a point after requiring a late penalty to clinch a 1-1 draw away to lowly Eintracht Frankfurt. Sebastian Rode's 54th minute goal appeared set to earn Frankfurt a vital victory until Mario Gomez converted from the spot with a minute to go. St Pauli appear to be on the brink of not only losing their coach, but their Bundesliga status, after a 3-1 home defeat by Werder Bremen. Fin Bartels gave St Pauli a 29th minute lead, but Bremen produced an impressive second-half display to run out convincing winners. Former Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre equalised on 51 minutes and ex-Chelsea striker Claudio Pizarro netted a brace in the space of two minutes to see off St Pauli. Srdan Lakic scored the only goal of the game three minutes before half-time as Kaiserslautern won 1-0 away at UEFA Champions League semi-finalists Schalke. Cacau scored a goal in each half as Stuttgart enjoyed a 3-0 home win over Hamburg to move seven points ahead of the bottom three. After Cacau had opened the scoring on six minutes, he rounded off the scoring two minutes from time after substitute Christian Gentner had scored on 78 minutes.
