English-born starlet sticking with Mexico

English-born starlet Antonio Pedroza Whitham insists that he is Mexican after being linked with an England call-up. Reports suggested that England had been made aware of the 20-year-old's parentage after a string of impressive displays for Mexican side Jaguares. Pedroza was born in Chester to an English mother, but he has lived in Mexico since he was a young child. "My dad is Mexican, my mother, English. I was born in England, but I came to Mexico, I feel very Mexican," he told Esto. He has, though, enjoyed trials with both Chelsea and Arsenal but he failed to earn a deal with the Premier League clubs. "Tests in England were interesting, I had trials at Arsenal and Chelsea. For whatever reason it did not work out." The Football Association has also confirmed that it has made no approach for Pedroza - who it was claimed could have lined up for England at the World Youth Cup finals later in the summer. Indeed Pedroza could face against England in Colombia, as Mexico are in the same group as Brian Eastick's men.
