Marseille moved to the summit of the Ligue 1 table with a win over Sochaux, while Le Mans are second after beating Nantes.
With Lyon not in action until Sunday,
Marseille took the opportunity to go top with a 2-1 victory over struggling
Sochaux.
Karim Ziani fired Marseille ahead after 38 minutes and Ivory Coast striker Bakari Kone made it 2-0 on the hour mark.
Mevlut Erdinc pulled one back for Sochaux in the 73rd minute but Marseille held on for their third win in four games.
Nantes remain bottom of the table without a win following a crushing 4-1 defeat at home to
Le Mans.
Nantes took the lead through Guirane N'Daw on 20 minutes but it was one-way traffic from then on as Le Mans ran riot to keep the pressure on the leaders.
Thorstein Helstad equalised on 22 minutes and Modibo Maiga made it 2-1 on the stroke of half-time before late goals from Mathieu Coutadeur (85) and Gervinho (90).
Nice continued their fine form with a 2-0 victory over
Valenciennes to move up to fourth.
Habib Bamogo broke the deadlock for Nice after 51 minutes and Ludovic Remy secured the three points with a second on 84 minutes.
Newly promoted
Grenoble have been the surprise package of Ligue 1 so far and they added
Monaco to their list of victims.
They defeated Ricardo's side 1-0 thanks to a goal from Daniel Moreira after 19 minutes.
Paris St Germain beat
Caen by the same scoreline with Guillaume Hoarau netting the crucial goal after just five minutes.
Nancy claimed their first win of the season as they came from behind to defeat
Le Havre 2-1.
Cedric Faure's opener for Nice after 22 minutes was not cancelled out until Jonathan Brison struck with 20 minutes remaining.
