Bordeaux went three points clear at the top of Ligue 1 after beating Le Mans in a five-goal thriller on Saturday.
Laurent Blanc's side started the day in second place on goal difference to Marseille, who host out-going champions Lyon on Sunday.
But they came from behind at Stade Chaban Delmas to secure their ninth successive league win to move top.
Anthony Le Tallec put the visitors ahead in the 26th minute but Marouane Chamakh equalised 12 minutes later.
Yoann Gourcuff then scored on the stroke of half-time to give Bordeaux the lead, before Le Tallec notched his second of the evening on 53 minutes to level affairs.
But Marc Planus scored the all-important winner with 15 minutes to go to heap the pressure on Marseille ahead of Sunday's game.
Meanwhile,
Paris St Germain missed out on the chance of going third when slipping to a 2-1 home defeat to
Auxerre.
A Zoumana Camara own goal put the visitors ahead on 40 minutes before Ireneusz Jelen doubled the advantage a minute before half-time.
Stephane Sessegnon pulled one back for the hosts on 82 minutes but it proved too little, too late.
Fifth-placed
Toulouse twice came from behind to hold
St Etienne to a 2-2 draw, a result which leaves the hosts hovering just above the drop zone.
Moustapha Bayal put St Etienne ahead in the 34th minute, a lead they held onto until Moussa Sissoko's leveller on 66 minutes.
The hosts then looked to have sealed the win with Ilan's 72nd minute goal before Andre-Pierre Gignac equalised with just two minutes remaining.
Crucial victory
Caen jumped out of the bottom three - and dumped
Sochaux into the drop-zone - with a crucial 2-0 victory over their opponents.
Steve Savidan was the hero, scoring his first in the 76th minute before putting the issue beyond doubt when notching again at the death.

Lorient. Mamadou Diallo put the visitors ahead in the tenth minute before Marama Vahirua climbed off the bench to salvage a point for Lorient on 62 minutes.
It was the same scoreline between
