We take a look at all the drama at the World Cup

Every day during the World Cup, Sky Sports is taking a detailed look at all the drama and key incidents in South Africa. Cool dude of the Day: Anyone who witnessed the 0-0 draw between Paraguay and Japan will no doubt wish they could have those two hours of their life back - in fact the referee's whistle after extra-time had been played out woke me from a cheeky snooze. The set-ups of the two teams from the very first whistle showed they were both playing for penalties - but it's Japan who lost their nerve in the shoot-out. Yuichi Komano was the man who missed the Blue Samurai's third spot-kick, hitting the crossbar with his 12-yard effort. That opened the door for Oscar Cardozo to book his country's first-ever World Cup quarter-final - and boy did he do it in style, casually strolling up to the spot, watching keeper Eiji Kawashima dive to his left and rolling the ball into the opposite corner. To be as cool as a cucumber when there is so much riding on a penalty takes some courage. Top man. Man of the Day: David Villa proved to be Spain's match-winner as he blasted his fourth goal of the tournament in the 1-0 win over Portugal. Unlike Wayne Rooney and co, Barcelona's new recruit has lived up to all the pre-tournament billing. He was one of the favourites to win the Golden Boot, and he is now amongst the leaders, but he once again showed how to play on the big stage. Unlike his fellow striker Fernando Torres, Villa looked razor sharp and with his speed and close control he was a thorn in the Portuguese side all night. Playing wide on the left he finally collected a threaded pass from Xavi before scoring at the second attempt to sink Portugal. As future England boss Harry Redknapp would say: "A top, top, top player." He looks a snip at £35million! Chump of the Day: Portugal boss Carlos Queiroz. So it's not just England who don't have a Plan B, because Portugal were clueless as well. After going 1-0 down to Spain, Queiroz refused to throw caution to the wind. They failed to take risks, refused to change their shape and went out of the tournament with a whimper, Cristiano Ronaldo and all.
