Rowett fury after Dons loss

Furious Burton boss Gary Rowett could not hide his frustration after his 10-men let a goal lead slip in the 3-1 loss to AFC Wimbledon.

Marcus Holness was his primary target after he was given a straight red by referee Mick Russell for raising his hands in the direction of Wimbledon midfielder Sammy Moore in the 20th minute. Despite Adam McGurk having given them the lead Burton finished the game without a win in September, much to the fury of Rowett. "I'm absolutely furious that once again we've given ourselves an absolute mountain to climb by a moment of stupidity it was as simple as that," he said. "I can handle us losing the game by making mistakes trying to do the right thing and that's all I wanted to see. "We've shot ourselves in the foot again and we've got to stop that and I can't condone in any way, shape or form Marcus' actions. "We've let ourselves down again. There was nothing in the game at all, 20 minutes in and whether I believe it's a red card or not, I'd like to see the incident again, I can't defend someone who pushes somebody else in the face. "What is slightly frustrating is that a player pushed Ian Sharps two weeks ago and I was told that a push is not a sending off, and then for something similar Marcus is off here. "But It would be an awful lot easier if he didn't push in the first place, that would be a start."
