Norwich have sacked manager Alex Neil after he failed to mount a serious bid to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Here, Press Association Sport looks at some of those who could replace him.

GARY ROWETT

Rowett has had an air of the next cab off the rank about him since his shock sacking at Birmingham last year. He impressed on low budgets at Burton and with the Blues and would appear to be a good fit at Carrow Road.

ROY HODGSON

The experienced former England boss emerged as a surprise Leicester candidate last week but he has Norwich links too, having attended games this season as a guest of owner Delia Smith. He has managed all around the world and would represent a coup, despite his England misery.

ALAN IRVINE

The Scot has been handed temporary charge while City think over their next move. His last role, at West Brom, ended with five wins from 22 games and he may not be a first choice among supporters desperate to return to the Premier League.

MARK WARBURTON

He left Rangers last month and is proven in the English leagues. He did a fine job at Brentford but has been linked with Nottingham Forest for some time and could be headed there.

TIM SHERWOOD

Currently the director of football at Swindon, Sherwood played for Norwich from 1989 to 1992 and has spoken of his ambitions as a manager. Spells at Tottenham and Aston Villa have yet to show what he is fully capable of and this could represent a good move.
