Striker Adebayo Akinfenwa produced a match-winning performance as Northampton came from behind to beat Cheltenham 4-2 at Sixfields.
A poor first half saw Cheltenham break the deadlock in the 35th minute when Gabor Gyepes turned David Bird's shot past his own goalkeeper.
Northampton equalised seven minutes later when new signing Liam Davis crossed for captain Chris Doig to rifle home.
The Cobblers took control in the second half and went ahead in the 64th minute when Akinfenwa scored from the penalty spot after Bird was judged to have brought down Kenny Jackman illegally.
Akinfenwa repeated the feat four minutes - successfully converting from the spot after Luke Guttridge was fouled by Michael Townsend.
Townsend made amends in the 75th minute when he reduced the arrears from the penalty spot but Cobblers sealed all three points two minutes later when Leon Constantine who found the back of the net with a clinical finish.
