Boyd grabs decisive double for promotion contenders
Prolific striker George Boyd was the two-goal hero as Peterborough were made to work hard in their 4-2 victory over rock-bottom Crewe at London Road.
Darren Ferguson's promotion chasers were stunned when Tom Pope slotted the struggling Railwaymen into a second-minute lead and it took the home side until the second half to hit top gear.
Boyd launched the recovery act as he levelled in the 50th minute and only three minutes later the turnaround was completed when strike Aaron Mclean tucked away his 12th goal of the campaign.
But Posh had not banked on the visitors hauling themselves level just four minutes later when Pope was on target with a classy glancing header at the near post.
Midfielder Dean Keates chose the perfect time to register his first goal of the season when rifling Posh back ahead in the 69th minute before Boyd added a flattering gloss to the final scoreline as he struck for a second time three minutes from the end.
