PSV Eindhoven beat Helsingborg 2-0 at home to stand on the brink of a place in the last 16 of the Uefa Cup.
First-half goals from Timmy Simons and Danko Lazovic ensured the Dutch champions are in control heading into the second leg in Sweden.
The hosts enjoyed a dream start to the match when Simons converted a penalty after just seven minutes when Lazovic was hauled down by Daniel Andersson.
On the half-hour mark, PSV almost added a second when Ibrahim Afellay struck the post after Balazs Dzsudzsak's shot had been blocked.
But three minutes later, PSV did net a second goal when Lazovic finished clinically from Afellay's cross.
The second half contained few chances of note as PSV comfortably closed out the win to leave Helsingborg with a mountain to climb.
Slavia Prague or Tottenham Hotspur will await the winners in the last 16, with the second leg to be played next week.
