Current boss Michel Der Zakarian announced last month that he would be leaving at the end of the current season following disagreements with club president Waldemar Kita.

Girard was the man who guided Montpellier to their shock league title in 2012, before helping Lille to a third place finish in 2014 behind big-money spenders Paris St Germain and Monaco.
